1 Overview of Decorative Arts

The so-called "non-decorative" art has no precise definition and no systematic theory in the current design world. "No decoration" does not mean that there is no decoration. Mr. Zhang Daoyi said in the introduction to the selected readings of the classics on design art, "The term'decoration' includes at least three different concepts:'decorative patterns','decorative techniques', and'decorativeness.' Techniques and decoration are no longer needed, so how to embody "modeling in accordance with the laws of beauty" and what is the basis for design? Doesn't it mean that it is a design without design? The concept of "pure decorationism" has been introduced. Commodity packaging decoration should include decorative patterns, decorative craftsmanship and modeling structure.
